AI anime generator comparison
Velvet Render v5.1 Anime followed the prompts most accurately: it drew all five scenes without errors, including two characters with different looks. Animake v1.1 comes close, costs half as much, and is the fastest of the bonus-eligible models. WaifuStudio v2.6 and Anime XL v9 look striking but mix up which character has which hair and clothes, and Rev Animated v2.7 pulls the image toward realism and follows the prompt worst.
Run on October 15, 2026. We compared the six most popular AI anime generator models in Problembo on five identical prompts.

How we tested
- Models. The six anime generator models with the most tasks from Problembo users over the last 30 days. The new Animake v1.2 was not included.
- Prompts. Five English prompts in plain sentences, without Danbooru tags: a full-body character, a close-up portrait, two characters with different looks, a background without people, and a chibi sticker. Every model received each prompt unchanged, without a style or a negative prompt, one image per run.
- Settings. Default settings, 1K resolution for Animake v1.1. The aspect ratio was the same for every model within a prompt, but the exact frame size differs between models.
- Time. The median of all successful single-image tasks in Problembo over the last 30 days, from submission to result. In our run, one task took 14–22 s with Velvet Render v5.1 Anime, 7–9 s with Animake v1.1, 4–8 s with Manga Master v4, 11–16 s with WaifuStudio v2.6, 10–16 s with Anime XL v9, and 11–18 s with Rev Animated v2.7, including queue time.
- Test cost. 30 generations cost $1.13.
Results by prompt
Full-body character
Anime woman with long silver hair and blue eyes, full body, standing on a city street at night, wearing a white hooded jacket, black jeans and red sneakers, holding a transparent umbrella, neon signs, rain
WaifuStudio v2.6
Animake v1.1
Anime XL v9
Rev Animated v2.7
Manga Master v4
Velvet Render v5.1 Anime
Silver hair, a white hooded jacket, black jeans, red sneakers, and a transparent umbrella appear in every image. Velvet Render v5.1 Anime, WaifuStudio v2.6, and Anime XL v9 got the outfit right. Animake v1.1 gave the character a second, folded umbrella and a backpack. Manga Master v4 tinted the whole scene pink neon, and Rev Animated v2.7 drew a semi-realistic woman instead of an anime character.
Close-up portrait
Close-up portrait of an anime man with messy black hair and green eyes, smiling, falling cherry blossom petals, soft sunlight, detailed eyes
WaifuStudio v2.6
Animake v1.1
Anime XL v9
Rev Animated v2.7
Manga Master v4
Velvet Render v5.1 Anime
The prompt asked for a smiling man with black hair and green eyes. Velvet Render v5.1 Anime, Animake
v1.1, Manga Master v4, and Anime XL v9 drew him, Anime XL v9 in a three-quarter view. WaifuStudio
v2.6 and Rev Animated v2.7 drew a woman, so with these models state the gender explicitly, for
example with the 1boy tag.
Two characters
Two anime women sitting on a rooftop at sunset and eating ice cream. The woman on the left has short pink hair and a denim jacket. The woman on the right has long black hair and a yellow hoodie. City skyline in the background
WaifuStudio v2.6
Animake v1.1
Anime XL v9
Rev Animated v2.7
Manga Master v4
Velvet Render v5.1 Anime
The hardest prompt: on the left, a woman with pink hair in a denim jacket; on the right, one with black hair in a yellow hoodie. Velvet Render v5.1 Anime, Animake v1.1, and Manga Master v4 placed and dressed them correctly. WaifuStudio v2.6 and Anime XL v9 swapped the clothes, and WaifuStudio v2.6 also showed them from behind. Rev Animated v2.7 merged the two into one woman.
Background without people
Anime background art, no people, a small countryside train station in summer, sunflowers along the platform, blue sky with big white clouds, power lines, detailed scenery
WaifuStudio v2.6
Animake v1.1
Anime XL v9
Rev Animated v2.7
Manga Master v4
Velvet Render v5.1 Anime
Every model handled the landscape: no people, with sunflowers, clouds, and power lines in place. WaifuStudio v2.6, Anime XL v9, and Rev Animated v2.7 added a train, and Velvet Render v5.1 Anime drew a wooden station building. Manga Master v4 put the station in the middle of a field with no tracks or platform.
Chibi sticker
Chibi anime knight with an oversized helmet holding a tiny wooden sword, cute, sticker style, thick white outline, simple pastel background
WaifuStudio v2.6
Animake v1.1
Anime XL v9
Rev Animated v2.7
Manga Master v4
Velvet Render v5.1 Anime
Animake v1.1, Manga Master v4, and Velvet Render v5.1 Anime made the best stickers: a big head in a helmet, a wooden sword, a white outline, and a pastel background. WaifuStudio v2.6 skipped the outline, and the sword from Anime XL v9 is as tall as the knight. Rev Animated v2.7 drew a realistic metal figurine instead of a chibi.
Which model to choose
- Velvet Render v5.1 Anime when the frame has several characters or every detail of the prompt matters.
- Animake v1.1 is the default choice for characters, stickers, and backgrounds: $0.025 per image and about 10 seconds per result. The $0.60 bonus covers about 24 images.
- Manga Master v4 for manga and anime art when speed matters. It accepts only paid balance.
- WaifuStudio v2.6 and Anime XL v9 for single characters with detailed rendering and for image-to-image. Describe the character with tags and state the gender explicitly.
- Rev Animated v2.7 for semi-realistic illustrations and landscapes.

Test limitations
Each prompt was run once, and another run will produce a different image. The prompts were plain English sentences, while WaifuStudio v2.6, Anime XL v9, and Rev Animated v2.7 usually understand Danbooru tags better. Animake v1.2 was not included; its price and settings are on the service page. We will update the comparison when new models arrive.
